We partnered with the organization to assess their digital manufacturing capabilities across their manufacturing network using an industry standard framework tailored to meet their needs.
We created tailored scorecards and digital dashboards to showcase their maturity, outlined opportunity areas and risks across their sites.
The initiative established a roadmap and a common rallying point for the organization to embark on their multi-year digital transformation journey.

The Challenge
As the organization was beginning its multi-year transformation journey, leaders wanted to establish a baseline to inform the digital roadmap.
The manufacturing sites to be assessed were globally located and produced differing products across biotech modalities and had specialized processes across the value chain. Each site had its own maturity and legacy within the organization; organic and in-organic growth as well as differing technology approaches.
Additionally, the organization did not have previous technology architecture principles, so each site had its own technology footprint based on its own prioritization and budget.
The assessment was to be completed within a timeframe of 4 months, including the readout and overall findings. The timeframe did not take place during any site downtimes, so the process needed to be completed while each site continued to make products. The site leadership team and applicable stakeholders needed to be informed and allocated to support the assessment process.

Our approach
To meet the aggressive timeline, we proposed a hybrid approach of conducting assessments in person and virtually. We proposed three phases of the engagement; assessment communication and alignment, assessment execution and digital maturity readout to executive stakeholders.
We developed communication materials and led introductory sessions to help site stakeholders prepare for the assessment
For the assessment framework, we proposed a biotech manufacturing industry standard framework to measure digital capabilities. We tailored the framework to meet the organization's specific needs and processes.
As part of our readout, we built dashboards and digital scorecards to support broader alignment and communication across the organization and to ensure the assessment process can be continued on a recurring basis.
Leveraging the scores and findings, we built recommendations for the executive team to incorporate into their multi-year digital strategy.
